Housing
The social exclusion faced by poor communities in Andhra Pradesh means that they are often forced to live in precarious and unsanitary shacks.
Dignified housing restores to Dalit farmers, tribals, and members of disadvantaged castes the security of knowing that they can count on a property to protect them and which ties them to their land and their community.
The Foundation began its program of housing construction in order to give every family a decent home.
OUR PROJECTS
House-building
The houses built by the Foundation in Andhra Pradesh are suited to the customs and the materials available in the area. They are simple houses, with two interior rooms. The first room serves as the kitchen, with space to store food and the utensils for cooking and handling food. The other room is used as bedroom and living room. All houses have an elevated porch and are protected by a roof.
Adapted housing for people with disabilities
For people with disabilities, the Foundation builds adapted homes. A ramp at the entrance provides easy access when they have mobility problems. Moreover, all the adapted homes include an indoor bathroom which makes personal hygiene easier.
OBJETIVES
- Build between 50,000 and 60,000 new houses over the next ten years and advance towards the goal of providing a home to all poor families in Andhra Pradesh.
- Build larger settlements (more than 100 houses within a village) wherever necessary.
